CLASSES
READERS & SEEKERS
The Bible study group meets most Mondays at 2:00pm, in the Fireside Room with the pastor and Thursdays at 7 pm with a lay leaxder. The group employs a "critical" rather than "devotional" methodology as it reads and discusses the texts given by the Revised Common Lectionary for the following Sunday. Participants attest that this study prepares them to hear the scriptures more deeply when they're used in worship. Their reactions to the readings also often give Ann a "jumping off point" for the sermon. No biblical expertise is necessary to participate. Just bring an open mind and whatever version of the Bible.
TAIZE SERVICE The last Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. Styled after the thrice-daily worship services at the ecumenical Community of Reconciliation in the hills outside the little village of Taize in France, these short (45 minutes) services combine musical chanting and silence. The repetition of the chants helps to free our minds of “chatter” so that we can reach the place of silence within ourselves wherein we may become aware of God, the Mystery in whose Being we live and move and have our being. We come away from these services feeling relaxed and refreshed, peaceful and, often, joyful. To read more about Taize, click here. |
