Our Building

Pilgrim Congregational Church, founded in 1957 by
a small group of people, rapidly outgrew two small,
rented buildings, one belonging to the Native Daughters of the Golden West
and the second being the old Eagles' hall. In November 1958, the congregation numbered 84 and moved to the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Highway 299, across from our present site.

In March 1957, a Building Committee had already been appointed:
Clayton Kantz, architect and Chairman
Art Pritchard, Vice Chairman
Ruth Patterson, Secretary
Rev. Jerry Holmes, Organizing Minister (ex officio)
Linda Stanford
Dorothy Kusi
Merrill Doud, architect
Granville Hutton.

In July of 1957, the Rev. Ray Welles replaced the Rev. Holmes, and 5 members were added to the committee:
Helen Miller
Howard Brownson
Gary Cooper
George Lipp
Don Hutchins

In January 1958, the committee announced that the famous Frank Lloyd Wright had accepted the commission as architect for the new church.
